IGNITE HACKATHON

eMobilis Mobile Technology Academy is a training institution that was founded in 2008 and is the first of its kind in Sub Saharan Africa – it focuses on training individuals on Mobile Software Development, as well as Network Infrastructure Management.

About The Competition

Ignite Hackathon is a highly charged two day mobile application development competition that will challenge participants on the technical aspects of writing efficient code, a well thought out architecture, deployment of scalable infrastructure, application aesthetics and user experience and finally the business elements that will highlight applicable revenue models, optimal pricing and user engagement.

The main aim of the hackathon is to release into the market applications that have mass market appeal and can adapt to the challenges that accompany rapid growth in user numbers and crack the revenue conundrum that has been a tough nut to crack for local developers. This is also why this is a hackathon like no other as it goes beyond simple creation of apps and services.

The Ignite Hackathon is sponsored by Nokia and is open to students and tech-prenuers who have an app that is near completion or an app idea that can be completed and published within the 36 hours of the event.

There will be a resident mobile application specialist who will guide the teams from start to finish to ensure that the applications are ready to publish onto the Nokia store.

Judging & Winnings

A three judge bench, recruited from leading technology firms, will select three of the best applications which will automatically get published on the Nokia Store. In addition, the top three will each bag cash prizes as follows;

  • 1St Prize – $ 5,000
  • 2nd Prize – $ 3000
  • 3rd Prize – $ 500

To register for the event and more information visit Ignitehackathon Website and submit your application details.
